Springboards provide an opportunity for students to spend a day exploring potential career paths with our community partners. This is a great opportunity to connect you with professionals currently working in the industry. You will have the chance to find out about their path, what programs and tools should you be exploring, the education required for a given career and what a day looks like in a given career. Most Springboards run once per school year and are open to Greater Victoria high school students in most grades. The more interest students show in a given career, the more likely the Springboard is to run. For more information, contact Ms. Giesbrecht in the Career Center.

Gwaii Engineering Job Shadow Opportunity
Details:
Gwaii would like to offer this opportunity to equity deserving groups in the engineering career pathway, such as women and Indigenous students.
There is no grade level set, but the student will need to be mature and focused enough to participate within an engineering firm environment for the day.
The two attachments are:
GwaiiJob Shadowing Summary - this will be important for the applicant, and yourselves, to receive, read, and understand in order to help with their understanding of the job shadow, and their application.
GwaiiEngineering2023-2024 Job Shadow Application - this provides an outline of what is expected from applicants.
NOTE to share with students: if more than one application comes in for the day shadows, student's resume and prompt responses will be used to choose which candidate will get to take part, so these are important pieces!
We will coordinate volunteer work experience forms once the student is chosen.
There are three job shadow opportunities that students can choose from (students can choose more than one month, but will only get to participate in one job shadow):
1 x November
1 x January
1 x February
1 x April
1 x May
Students can apply now for any of the months they are able to participate in the job shadow.
Once a student is chosen, they will work with Gwaii to find an appropriate day for the job shadow to happen.
