Women In Orthopaedics (WORTH)– Virtual Workshop on Saturday, October 28th, from 9 am to 12 pm PT. This workshop is open to all young women in high schools (grades 10-12), including women-identifying individuals and non-binary and gender non-conforming students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and engineering, specifically in orthopaedics. We aim to provide more insight and clarity on careers particularly in the areas of orthopaedics and engineering. Grades 8-9 Activities from 8-4pm (bring change of clothes) AM - walk to HMCS Regina - activities: ship's tour, learn what sailors do in their jobs, watch demonstration of a small boat attack, and casualty clearing (first aid), try firefighting, escape drills and knot tying. Lunch provided on board HMCS Regina (food sensitivities, please bring your own lunch. Please indicate any life threatening allergies when submitting the waivers). PM - small boat transfer to engage in interactive firefighting and damage control demonstration at the Colwood facility (bring change of clothes), there will be a demonstration of bomb disposal, and there will be static displays of diving equipment, including a diving recompression chamber. Bus transfer back to Esquimalt.
