SPRING BREAK AVIATION CROSS COUNTRY TOUR – MARCH 20TH
"The Elevate Aviation Cross Country Tour empowers youth to consider a career in aviation through inspirational presentations and behind the scenes tours by women in aviation. Each tour day is free of charge and features incredible guest speakers, lunch, and behind-the-scenes tours of the airport. Students between the ages of 12-18 will hear from pilots, air traffic controllers, aerospace engineers, aircraft mechanics, and other aviation professionals. They will be hosting their 7th Annual Cross Country Tour on Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Victoria International Airport. McGill Summer Academy (MSA) is a two-week summer program held on McGill University's downtown campus. With classes in the morning, opportunities to experience Montreal in the afternoon, and the chance to make friends from all over the world - Summer Academy offers the most memorable McGill experience.
By combining academic coursework, skill-building activities and experiential learning, Summer Academy provides students with the opportunity to explore academic interests and strengthen learning strategies, preparing them for a successful transition to university studies. Summer Academy offers two academic streams: a Neuro and Health Sciences stream, and a World Politics stream. During their stay, students will collaborate with highly motivated students from around the world and will have ample opportunity to connect with current McGill students and McGill faculty. They’ll leave Summer Academy with new, lifelong friendships and the confidence to apply to the university of their dreams! These positions are perfect for a student that loves working with kids, wants to gain experience as a camp leader, and lives a healthy active lifestyle! This program is a unique opportunity for self-identified girls in Grades 10 – 12 to increase their confidence and realize their leadership potential while creating a network who will support them along their educational and career journeys.
Participants develop their confidence through workshops that identify their key strengths and core values. They leave the program with greater self-awareness, and the inspiration to take on new challenges and opportunities. Please note that to participate, students must be able to attend all four sessions of the program. This is an invitation to fully devote four evenings to learning, growth, and fun! Evans Caddy Scholarship Program –The Victoria Golf Club (VGC) is looking for enthusiastic students to become part of the Evans Caddie Program. No golf or caddie experience is required! In this unique program, teens are paid to caddie as their summer job. In the fall of Grade 12 caddies become eligible to apply for the Evans Caddie Scholarship, a full housing and tuition scholarship to a selected U.S. university. Strong academic performance (A’s and B’s) is required to compete for the scholarship. Families must demonstrate financial need to apply. The minimum age for application is 14, although 13-year-olds will be considered in special circumstances. Applications are due before February 28. Note that youth need to be able to get to and from the Victoria Golf Club located at 1110 Beach Drive. Explorations in Technology Camosun Course (TEAC 105) Applications are now open for September 2023 and January 2024. Earn extra credits while exploring civil engineering, electronics, mechanical engineering and computer science through inquiry, problem solving and project-based learning. The course runs Friday’s from 3pm – 6pm at Interurban Campus and is open to students in Gr. 10-12. Students are responsible for paying the application fee but not for the course.
